A well balanced attack led Tampa Bay to victory. The Bandits exploded in the second quarter, scoring all 27 of their points then. Two touchdown passes by quarterback Jimmy Jordan and 2 touchdown runs by Gary Anderson were all they needed to hold on for the victory.
New Jersey kept it close, bringing the score to within a touchdown with two minutes left on a field goal. They also scored two touchdown runs by two different players, including one by Herschel Walker. But Tampa Bay closed out the last two minutes to seal the victory
