Denver Gold Clinch Victory Over Las Vegas Ace Behind Gagliano’s Commanding Performance
The Denver Gold emerged victorious with a 20-7 win over the Las Vegas Ace at Sam Boyd Stadium, driven by a strong performance from quarterback Bob Gagliano. Denver’s offense came alive in the second quarter, with Gagliano orchestrating a 10-play, 80-yard drive capped by a 9-yard touchdown pass to Leonard Harris. Although a fumble recovery by Las Vegas linebacker Lee Wilson momentarily tied the game, Gagliano responded with a 5-yard touchdown run, giving Denver a lead they would not relinquish.
Denver’s defense dominated throughout, holding the Ace to just 201 total yards and forcing two interceptions, one of which came in the first half to thwart a promising Las Vegas drive. Despite Denver’s three turnovers, Las Vegas struggled to capitalize, with their lone score coming on a defensive play. Jerry Golst, the Ace quarterback, was held to 204 yards and no touchdowns, as his team’s ground game was virtually non-existent, managing just three rushing yards on six attempts.
The Gold sealed the game with two methodical fourth-quarter drives that resulted in Jim Asmus field goals from 22 and 20 yards, consuming over ten minutes of game time. Gagliano finished with 483 passing yards, spreading the ball to multiple receivers, including Marc Lewis, who led with 141 yards on seven catches. Denver’s win keeps their playoff hopes alive, while the Ace, now 1-12-1, continue to search for answers in a frustrating season.
