New Orleans Brass 7, Birmingham Stallions 59

The Birmingham Stallions dominated from start to finish in their Week 11 clash against the New Orleans Brass, cruising to a 59-7 victory at Legion Field. Quarterback Cliff Stoudt set the tone early, connecting with Jim Smith for a 16-yard touchdown late in the first quarter, and the floodgates opened from there. Stoudt threw four touchdown passes in the first half, two of which went to Smith, as the Stallions built a commanding 35-0 halftime lead. The Brass, struggling on both sides of the ball, couldn’t mount any meaningful offense and were overwhelmed by Birmingham’s relentless attack.

In the third quarter, the Stallions continued to pile on the points. Stoudt added his fifth touchdown pass, finding Smith for their third scoring connection of the day. Bob Lane came in relief of Stoudt and kept the pressure on, tossing two more touchdowns, both to Kevin Harris, as Birmingham extended their lead to 49-0 before New Orleans finally found the end zone. Brass quarterback Steve Pisarkiewicz connected with Ricky Porter for a 7-yard touchdown, but it was too little, too late as the Stallions responded with another score and a field goal to cap off their rout.

Birmingham outgained New Orleans 557 to 132 yards, holding the Brass to just seven first downs. The Stallions’ defense forced three turnovers and allowed only one scoring drive. Jim Smith finished the day with 167 yards and three touchdowns on nine catches, while Stoudt completed 17 of 27 passes for 252 yards and five touchdowns. The win improves Birmingham to 7-4, keeping them in the thick of the playoff race, while New Orleans falls to 2-9, continuing their disappointing season.
