The Jacksonville Bulls cruised to a 26-7 victory over the Denver Gold at Mile High Stadium, dominating on both sides of the ball. Larry Mason led the charge, scoring two touchdowns—one on the ground and one through the air—earning MVP honors. The Bulls jumped out to an early lead with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Ed Luther to Mason in the first quarter. A pair of field goals from Brian Franco extended the lead to 13-7 by halftime, as Denver’s lone score came on a 4-yard pass from Bob Gagliano to Marc Lewis.
Jacksonville’s defense stifled Denver in the second half, forcing three interceptions, including two in the third quarter, setting up key scoring opportunities for the Bulls. Gentry’s 11-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter widened the gap to 20-7, and Mason added another score with a 6-yard run early in the fourth. The Gold offense struggled to find consistency, with Gagliano throwing for 322 yards but being plagued by turnovers, as Jacksonville controlled possession for over 37 minutes of the game.
Despite accumulating 340 yards of total offense, Denver failed to capitalize on key drives, including a missed field goal early and a turnover on downs late in the fourth quarter. Jacksonville’s balanced offensive attack, with 168 rushing yards and solid game management from Luther, allowed them to methodically wear down the Gold defense. The win improves the Bulls to 7-3 on the season, keeping them in strong playoff contention, while Denver falls to 4-6-1.
