The Arizona Wranglers dominated the San Antonio Gunslingers 22-3 in a Week 10 showdown at the Alamodome. The game opened with a rare safety by Bruce Gheesling, setting the tone for Arizona’s defense, which would go on to record eight sacks and force five turnovers. Despite some struggles in the first half, including two missed field goals by Luis Zendejas, Arizona’s offense found its rhythm in the second half.
Arizona scored two quick touchdowns in the third quarter, with Reggie Brown punching in a 3-yard run and Vince Evans adding a 2-yard scoring run just a minute later after a San Antonio turnover. Evans, who only completed six passes for 61 yards, did most of his damage on the ground, rushing for 67 yards and two touchdowns. The Wranglers’ defense continued to stifle San Antonio, with Kit Lathrop, Dave Tipton, and Daryl Wilkerson leading a relentless pass rush.
San Antonio struggled throughout the game, mustering only a field goal from Nick Mike-Mayer in the second quarter. Rick Neuheisel had a rough outing, completing 14 of 38 passes for 153 yards and throwing three interceptions, as the Gunslingers failed to capitalize on any offensive momentum. Arizona’s victory improves their record to 6-4, while San Antonio drops to 3-7, struggling to find consistency as the season progresses.
