The Jacksonville Bulls dominated the Oklahoma Outlaws with a convincing 59-13 victory at The Gator Bowl. The Outlaws opened the game with an early touchdown from Mel Gray, but the Bulls quickly responded and took control. Jacksonville quarterback Ed Luther threw for 330 yards and 4 touchdowns, including two to standout wide receiver Perry Kemp, who finished with 8 receptions for 191 yards and was named the game’s MVP.
Jacksonville’s offense exploded in the second quarter, scoring 28 points, with Luther connecting with Larry Mason and Robert Young for touchdowns. Buck Belue and Shawn Jones added rushing scores, while the defense forced multiple turnovers. The Outlaws struggled offensively, with Doug Williams throwing three interceptions and Oklahoma managing only 55 rushing yards. Despite two field goals from kicker Efren Herrera, the Outlaws couldn’t keep pace with Jacksonville’s potent attack.
In the second half, Jacksonville continued its dominance, highlighted by Kemp’s second touchdown and a 21-yard interception return for a score by Rod McMillan. Jacksonville’s balanced offense, which totaled 470 yards, and a defense that forced five turnovers, left the Outlaws with no chance to recover. The Bulls improved to 6-3 on the season, while Oklahoma fell to 2-7, with Williams’ performance a low point in their continued struggles.
