Washington Federals 21, Arizona Wranglers 16

The Washington Federals edged the Arizona Wranglers in a thrilling Week 7 showdown at Sun Devil Stadium, winning 21-16. Arizona kicker Luis Zendejas played a major role early, converting three field goals, including a pair in the second quarter, to give the Wranglers a 9-7 halftime lead. Washington’s offense, led by MVP running back Craig Bledsoe, responded with a 13-play, 82-yard drive, capped off by a three-yard touchdown run from Bledsoe, to take a narrow lead in the second quarter.

In the third quarter, Washington’s momentum continued when quarterback Ed Honensee connected with wide receiver Reggie Harris on a 36-yard touchdown pass, giving the Federals a 14-9 advantage. Arizona’s offense struggled to capitalize on opportunities, and Washington controlled the clock with a punishing 15-play, 97-yard drive that ate up over seven minutes. The drive ended with a seven-yard touchdown run by Steve Sewell, stretching the lead to 21-9.

Arizona made a late push in the fourth quarter, with Vince Evans hitting Mike McDade for a 15-yard touchdown pass to narrow the gap to 21-16. However, the Wranglers were unable to complete the comeback as Washington’s defense, which forced a key interception early in the quarter, held strong. The Federals improved to 4-3 on the season, while the Wranglers fell to 3-4, despite Zendejas’ impressive 10-point contribution.
