Memphis Showboats 38, Michigan Panthers 27

Showboats Rally Past Panthers in High-Scoring Affair

In a thrilling contest at the Silver Dome, the Memphis Showboats overcame a halftime deficit to defeat the Michigan Panthers 38-27. The game was a back-and-forth affair, featuring explosive offenses and defensive lapses.

The first half was a shootout, with both teams trading touchdowns. Michigan held a slim 24-21 lead at the break, thanks to a late field goal. However, Memphis came out firing in the second half, scoring 17 unanswered points to secure the victory.

Harry Sydney was the star for the Showboats, rushing for three touchdowns. Quarterback Walter Lewis also played a crucial role, throwing for a touchdown and running for another. The Showboats’ defense made key stops in the second half to preserve the lead.

The Panthers’ offense, led by Bobby Hebert, kept pace with Memphis for much of the game. Hebert threw for two touchdowns, but the Panthers’ defense couldn’t contain the high-powered Showboats offense. The loss drops Michigan to 0-2 on the season, while Memphis improves to 2-0.
