Marcus Turner (MT): Welcome, Bandit Ballers! Today, we have a very special guest – the legendary Burt Reynolds, actor extraordinaire and co-owner of our beloved Tampa Bay Bandits. Welcome, Burt!
Burt Reynolds (BR): Thanks, Marcus! It’s great to be here, especially with a true Bandit fan like yourself.
MT: Absolutely! Now, let’s start with your iconic career in acting. Smokey and the Bandit remains a classic. How did that film shape your perspective on being a part-owner of a football team like the Bandits?
BR: Smokey and the Bandit was a wild ride, no doubt. It was all about fun, rebellion, and the open road. And you know, owning part of the Bandits feels a bit like that. It’s the spirit of camaraderie and the thrill of the game.
MT: Speaking of camaraderie, how do you see the connection between the world of Hollywood and the world of football here in Tampa Bay?
BR: Well, it’s all about storytelling, isn’t it? In Hollywood, we tell stories on the screen, and in football, it’s the same – narratives unfold on the field. Being part of the Bandits allows me to continue telling a story, this time through the victories and challenges of a football team.
MT: Your connection to the Bandits adds a unique flavor to the team’s identity. How does your love for Florida and its laid-back lifestyle play into the Bandits’ spirit?
BR: Florida has always been a special place for me. The Gulf Breeze, the sunshine – it’s all part of the laid-back lifestyle I love. The Bandits embody that spirit. We want our fans to enjoy the game, feel the excitement, but never lose that relaxed Florida vibe.
MT: Now, let’s shift gears a bit. The Bandits are in a tight race for the division. How do you think your experiences in the film industry have prepared you for the ups and downs of team ownership?
BR: In both Hollywood and football, you need passion and perseverance. Success doesn’t come easy. The Bandits are a resilient bunch, and being part of this journey reminds me of my own experiences in the film industry. It’s about pushing through challenges, celebrating victories, and, most importantly, having a good time along the way.
MT: And speaking of good times, any favorite Bandits moments that stand out for you so far?
BR: Every win feels like a favorite moment, but I have to say, the first time we clinched a big victory at home was truly special. The roar of the crowd, the energy in the air – that’s what it’s all about.
MT: Finally, any message for the Bandit Ballers out there, especially those who, like me, grew up loving Smokey and the Bandit?
BR: To the Bandit Ballers, keep that spirit alive! The Bandits are here to entertain, just like Smokey and the Bandit did. It’s about having fun, enjoying the ride, and sticking together. Go Bandits!
MT: There you have it, Bandit Ballers! Burt Reynolds, the Bandit himself, sharing his insights on acting, ownership, and the vibrant spirit of the Tampa Bay Bandits. Until next time, this is Marcus Turner signing off.
BR: Thanks, Marcus. And remember, keep it breezy, Tampa Bay!
