Michigan edged Birmingham Sunday evening. While Birmingham gained over 360 yards in the game, the Panthers kept them out of the end zone for the entire game. After taking a 7-0 lead, they held on to a sometimes slim lead before Hebert tossed a touchdown pass in the fourth for the final score.
Birmingham quarterback Cliff Stoudt had been throwing touchdowns at will. But, Michigan’s defense turned back the clock for one week. He passed for only 162 yards and no touchdowns. Michigan intercepted him twice in the game.
