Washington Federals 27, New Jersey Generals 24

Washington edged New Jersey in Jersey to push the Generals to 0-6 on the season. The Federals capitalized on two costly turnovers in the game. They returned a fumble and an interception both for a touchdown on back to back New Jersey posessions. The win puts Washington in the running for a playoff spot early.

The loss all but buries the Generals unless they pull off a miracle. Taking a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, Washington pulled to within 3 with along strike. Herschel Walker extended the lead again. Then, the wheels fell off and the two defensive touchdowns put them down. Brian Sipe tied the game before Washington closed it out by holding the Generals scoreless for their last three possessions of the game.
