
Philadelphia edged the Generals in overtime in New Jersey. The Stars built up a 24-10 lead that they squandered in the fourth quarter. But, a David Trout field goal about halfway through overtime pulled the win out for them in spite of the sloppy end of game play. Philly had a chance to win the game in regulation, but fumbled deep in New Jersey territory.
New Jersey surged back in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Brian Sipe threw a touchdown pass and Herschel Walker ran one in with just over 2 minutes left in the game. The game ended on a short drive by New Jersey. Philadelphia took the overtime kick off and drove for the winning field goal without allowing the Generals another possession.
