Oakland continued their hot streak by shutting out Denver on Monday night. Led by quarterback Fred Besana, who threw two touchdown in the game, the Invaders moved to 10-5 on the season and all but guaranteed their trip to the playoffs. Oakland’s defense also forced five turnovers in the game.
The game gave Denver a chance to pull closer to Oakland and keep their dwindling playoff chances alive. However those five turnovers, all interceptions by quarterback Craig Penrose, meant that they never got a chance to get any sustained offense going. They still have a chance to sneak into the playoffs if Oakland loses their last three and they win out.
