
Birmingham continued their mid season surge by defeating the Washington Federals, 16-13. They built up a lead of 16 on two first half touchdown passes by Bob Lane to Jim Smith and a Scott Norwood field goal.
The lead held against two second half touchdown passes by Washington quarterback Kim MCQuilken. The win brings Birmingham to 5-4 and in second place in the tough central division. Washington continues to look for answers as they drop to 2-7.
